a doodle that sprouted into a painting, i eventually want to get a fair amount of detail in there and do a larger format print with it (its currently about 8k pixels wide)

I like it, and the underlying drawing. I'm wondering though if the background isn't too monochromatic. Possibly some earth tones deep in the bamboo? Not sure about the green in the skin, but all in all, nice.

Cool Brett, this has a finish on it that I don't recall seeing too often outta you. It's definitely a striking image.
I agree with frost about the monochromatic background, although it sorta works too. It might be worth exploring some other options back there. I think maybe pushing the greens slightly cooler or warmer in some places could help.

oh also, maybe try making that hat a red or something, you might be able to get a really nice pop out of it.
