Hi All! So, Nate and I went down and checked out Dr. Sketchy's at the Pink Elephant Room on East Colfax this evening (http://www.myspace.com/dr_sketchys_denver). I completely enjoyed the experience. The model, a Rocky Mountain Rollergirl and Burlesque dancer by the name of LaPetiteMort was a fine poser, says I. It's interesting in that they will do a series of 1 minunte and 5 minute poses then break for a costume change, then a series of 10 minute poses - another break, and finally a 20 minute pose. In between each pose set willing artists can hang work up in fun competition critiques for goffy little prizes (I walked away with a Dale Jr. heart-shaped tin full of Valentine's chocolate and a Dr. Sketchy's 2008 calendar - pretty sweet!). The venue is cool - it has a definite arthouse vibe - and there was great music playing for the whole session. Also, this was the first real life drawing I have done in some time, so it felt damn good. I pulled out a few doodles I was reasonably happy with. Enjoy...

back in action- DAMN RIGHT!
Great work Jim. Absolutely fantastic. The top with the 3 figures is far and away my fave. The other 2 are good but seem to lack the confidence the top piece has. I wonder, were the others earlier in the evening?
I love 'em too Jimmy. The top 3 are my favorite as well, I think that the energy of those quick drawings comes through well and gives a little more motion to the figures. Life drawin' Jimmy, back in action!
Actually, Ray, the three you speak of were ones done first. I think that when I have longer pose times I tend to take longer with the initial gesture and lose a bit of that motion. It's something I continually work on... Thanks all!
