First Cintiq Sketch

So my bosses deemed me a valuable enough concept artist to purchase a Cintiq for me to use. I must say, I am in love with this machine. This guy clocks in at around 30-45 minutes.

Moon Crooner

I started this marker sketch today at Skuntch, then finished it up at home. I like how it turned out, though I will be the first to admit that it is heavily infulenced by two other artists. First, by Mikey G's wonderful robots with girlies sketches, and secondly by my favorite Jon Foster painting.

A Little Help For My Friends...

I did this quick concept for Cole and his latest short. It is supposed to show how this cute little girl all of a sudden folds up and pushes herself into a kennel... I think it came out pretty sweet for how simple it is, so I wanted to show it off to you freaks. :P

More Stuff From '06...

Here is some stuff from last year that some of you have already seen...

First up, three-page test for a Teddy Scares comic book with Ape Comics. I made the top three but they ended up going with someone with a more cartoony style. Oh well, I had fun and made a good connection. BTW, I did these three pages in one night... eh... there's definately some things I'd change if i did another pass, but I like them over-all.

Second, a character test I did for an ever mysterious 'game studio' in Denver. I will say no more.

Playing around with some ideas

Loosely based on some work stuff. About an hour, and all I ended up with was a silhouette, but i'm pretty happy with it.

Late Night Doodles

In pea green monotones... One day I need to start taking this shit a little bit more seriously.

So I finally got around to posting those canvases, first stab at acrylic since I was a wee one.

Just Finished this- Probably spent way too much time on it for it to end up monochromatic. perspective its pretty ganked too, but I`m overall pretty pumped.

Another power plant

It seems that this topic generator likes power plants. Had fun with this, not really trying to time myself. It came out ok. I could have been more creative witht he factory, and I'm not happy with the giant green blob on the right hand side. I feel like i learned a bit and played around with some techniques I haven't done before. About 60 minutes.

This was supposed to be 35 minutes..it ended up being about 70. I tried a few options for the shield that ended up not working out. I had fun though.

Don't really know what happened with the weird slimy pinkish tentacles, enjoy anyway though-

I also did a gif of my layers. they aren't in order as i tend to slip some layers under others sometimes

Couple o' doodles

Here are a few things i was toying around with.

Today has been interesting so far... I woke up at 5:45 so i could be up and ready to go do community service at 7:00. I get all ready to go, and because it's so cold my car won't start at all. I call a cab, they don't show up. I call them an hour later and they say they are still trying to get someone for me. here I am, about an hour after that and still no cab. I may give up on community service today, but at least I got some painting in.


Somehow both of these ended up crazy and colorful.

Demon with a drill. I intended to render it more, but I went nuts with gradients and layer effects instead and am reasonably happy with the results. (moved to following post)

Insomania digital life drawing

Ray and I arrived late to this pose and it was getting progessively colder in the short time we were there... she started nude, but then shortly put on a jacket and within minutes whe went on a break from which she never returned... would've liked at least 15 more minutes with this one...

First Skuntch of '07

Lap-topped this one at Skuntch... Erik aptly deemed it "Archers in the Precipice" because the up-angle of the arrow bothered him on a seemingly flat battle field. :)
