Clay Sketch
This goes along with the sketch in my last post. A few of the artists here at ND have been messing around with Sculpey for fun and inspiration. We have a table set up with some of the forming clay and some assorted tools. I have not really sculpted any thing in years, but was inspired by some quick sculpts that Nate and Kirk were doing. I have this particular sketch set as my desktop here at work, so I just decided to give his cartoony head a go inbetween work tasks... Fun stuff. I went home last night and dug my old stash of Sculpey out...
skuntch lives!......heyas boys, thought i would throw up a paint i finished a couple of weeks ago,,,it is a card for the wow/upperdeck trading card game. its a voidwalker from wow (a warlocks deamon pet). i got another card started, ill throw the sketch up later.......hope the formatting and post works out (first blogger post).....anyways, keep up the skuntch yos.

New Randomness
Logo designed for the Colorado & Wyoming LEGO User Group (of which I am now a member with my superior LEGO building skills - or not). Done in Illustrator. Yep, that's a small cow head made of LEGO. :)

Boar-ish head

I'm supposed to draw a super cartoonish boar creature later today so I started by drawing a more realistic one to wrap my brain around it...:)

Marooned
Here's another never used pre-production image from last year. The Marooned piece was one of the first images I did for Space Siege over a year ago when there was talk of having planet side adventures in the game. Ultimately, we decided it was more manageable to have it all take place on one giant generation ship.

Lizard Hat

More cintique fun. The other day I started doodling and ended up with a guy wearing a helmet with a lizard adorned on top. The idea made me laugh so I decided to use it as a basis for some more digital painting practice. I'm not sure if I like the black and white version or the color version more right now.

Early Space Siege Character Sketches
I don't know about you - I love me some iterative art. I enjoy seeing process so I figured I'd share some very early sketches I did for an earlier project. None of these will be used in the final game however they did contribute to the later designs.

Cintique
I was planning on doing some coffee shop drawin' today but couldn't get any drawing companions. Instead, I decided to head into work and play with the ol' cintique. This is what came out of the random subject generator today.Edit: Love the new header Ray, looks great. I took your advice about the contrast thing and played with the levels a bit. Much better, when i made it originally it was in a dark office.

Final Batman
UPDATE! I've added a process sequence over on my blog: http://raylederer.blogspot.com/2007/10/batman-process.html
Here's the final for the commission piece. I spent way to long on this. I learned much from it that I hope to apply to more interesting subjects later...:)

This was the section I enjoyed the most. I was able to play with textures in some unexpected ways...

I picked up some good things from this. Eh... I don't know... hopefully the next one won't be so ham fisted. Thanks for looking! -R
